I've been so bad...

A shop hop is not a good idea for someone who is on a self-imposed "no-buy", especially someone as weak-willed as me. I hit two more shops today, and then had to call it quits because really, I don't have the money to go to quilt shops. But before I came to my senses, I bought some 108" backing fabric (as a handquilter, I prefer to not have to quilt through seam allowances on the back, too), one irresistable pink and brown 1/8 yard cut, one 1/4 yard yummy chocolate brown flannel cut for my buzz saw quilt, and ten 1/4 yard neutrals. At least I stuck to that which I know I need, instead of just buying stuff I like, which would have bankrupted me for sure. To think, there was a time in my life when fabric meant nothing to me - now, it makes me drool and open my wallet!

I head home tomorrow. I can't wait to spend time with my family and with my sewing machine. I haven't sewn anything in weeks! Saturday is already spoken for with a presentation at work and a cub scout meeting, but Sunday, I sew! Look for photos!

Glad you got a few pieces of fabric you needed. I bought some today I shouldn't have. They were some sale pieces though and I will use them as soon as I finish this one I am working on now.

Looking forward to photos. We all have to spoil ourselves a little bit sometimes. It's like being on a diet. You gotta have that piece of cake at some point so you don't feel so deprived. It works better that way. Bet you'll be glad to be home finally!

After the difficult week you had last week with the ankle and the road trip, I think a little fabric shop therapy was just the thing!

I'm with you. I can't shop if I can't spend. I've gotten so I only go in the shops if I need something specific, and I do my very absolute best not to buy anything else. Sometimes, I'm even successful. ;-) Lane

Smart, buying those neutrals...for me its the hardest thing to pick!
Have fun with your family this weekend, I am sure they miss you terribly.

Happy Sewing

I surely know what you mean. I suffer with Lane. I won't go shopping if I can't buy anything. I will only go home depressed. I tried the "ban of buying" this year and have done horribly. But, it hasn't been as bad a some years. Small comfort in that. Safe travels home, and enjoy your family. I'm sure you have been greatly missed!

That doesn't sound SO bad ....... and it does sound like you got specific things that you will use. Hope to see you tomorrow, but it sounds like you have a pretty full day.

I think you did good on only getting what you really needed....I'm not that strong and Jay spoils me. That's why I keep him :)
