I'm happy to move this from the UFO pile to the Flimsy Waiting to be Quilted pile. 45" x 63" |
Meet Cecelia, my newest niece |
I held her as much as I could get away with - unfortunately, I had to share with others. |
While sewing, I also cut hundreds, literally HUNDREDS, of scraps into squares for use in future projects in an attempt to tame my mountains of scraps. But some of the scraps didn't get cut up. Instead, I experimented with a string quilt block I found online earlier today.
I know it is bold of me to use orange as the strips around the center of the block, but I had some orange strips already cut, so I thought "What the heck?" After all, the point is to use up scraps I already have, not make new ones. I love the finished quilts at the end of the string quilt block post - I'm hoping I'll love my version, too!
I'm glad I made that list of goals at the beginning of the month - it is helping me to focus my efforts when I go down into the sewing room.

Glad to hear you are weathering the storm in your sewing room! Love the log canin quilt and such a cute baby!,, stay safe.
You have a beautiful niece! I love her name. The quilt for her is beautiful, too! I wish I could get my quilting mojo back. I intend to work on some hexagons by hand today, but the thought of going down to the sewing room paralyzes me. I can't get it fixed like I want...this space is way smaller than my old one. Ick. Have fun, stay safe and warm!!
Great log cabin quilt. Congrats on the new niece. I well remember traveling 12+ hours, each way, every time we had a 3 day weekend, so my boys could spend some time with daddy (he moved, we had to wait till the house sold). That is HARD!. Now when I travel, I take more time, if I'm the only driver. It gets harder and harder, as you get older. Your boys will be driving in a few years (believe me, it goes quickly).
I love log cabin quilts and yours is wonderful. Of course I'm a scrap quilter too so that makes it doubly great!! Beautiful niece you have and she looks so comfy snuggling there with you.
I love the way that log cabin went together. Congratulations on the completion and the new cuddly niece.
