When everything is going to pieces around me...

One of the benefits of having a hobby is having an outlet when everything around me seems to be going wrong.  My car just spent time in the shop, emerging after nearly $4000 in repairs.  My son gets braces this month to the tune of over $5000.  My ancient computer won't turn on, so I can no longer put off getting a new one.  Someone went through my wallet this week, so I spent had to cancel all my bank and credit card accounts and get new ones.  Granny has been agitated lately, and has woken us up three times in the middle of the night this week.  In short, I am tired, worried about money, and frustrated with things that don't work.

But through it all, I quilt.  I am a half square triangle making machine for my Carpenter's Wheel quilt.

I've made a few more blocks for my plaid quilt.

My Quilting The Basics: Log Cabin Quilts class started this week at the shop, and I've been having a ball simultaneously making class samples and taming the scrap bins.

I am so thankful to be a quilter, to be able to build quilts when things around me are falling apart.

Sounds like you have had quite a go of it lately. I suppose it is designed to make us stronger. Like just look at those magnificent quilts your are making. Put that energy in a good place.

Quilty hugs,
Marilyn

I hear you, Erin. Working with fabric always calms me down when life seems overwhelming. Remember to breathe.

When it rains, it pours, doesn't it!

I am so excited to get out some hand sewing (hexies) to take on vacation next week! I haven't sewn ONE STITCH since February when all this moving business started!!! I am taking the hexies and a knitting project with me and I hope all the muscle spasms of the last 6 months will disappear!!

Is Granny suffering from sundowners or just going through a sleepless period? My prayers are with ya, girl. Hope all of you get your rest!

Becky

I think it helps take your mind off the problems but one thing I like best about quilting is that it stays done ... probably the only thing in my days I don't have to do over and over.

Sorry about all the troubles. The car troubles I really understand (4 times in the shop since May, NOT including a transmission re-build in July). I'm trying to figure out how to buy a newer car.
