Without all of you, there is no story. THANK YOU for all you have done and continue to do to bring warmth and comfort to those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
OK, so I guess you can't really read the article from the photos. But you can read it at http://www.roanoke.com/news/roanoke/wb/318510. There are even thank you notes from people who received our quilts - I hadn't seen those yet!
And, right on cue, more blocks came on Saturday from a mother/daughter team in PA - 59 blocks (42 already put together into a top!) and yardage for backings.
yards and yards of backing fabric - I particularly love the clocks! |
a completed top - thanks Shirl and Jana! |
plus 17 more blocks - their sewing machines must have gotten quite a workout! |
Happy 2013, everyone!

Great story, Erin! :) What a great way to start the new year. Cheers to you and everyone else who pitched in to help!
What a wonderful article, Erin! You are very deserving of all the nice things they said about you. I can imagine that your boys must be so proud.

What a blessing you are to the quilting community- so many want to do 'something' and you give us a chance to get our hands out to service.
May the Lord continue to bless your efforts this year.
That is great! Thanks for all your efforts!
That article made me cry. All true you know! Blessings.
Oh Erin! I am proud to call you friend. The story is wonderful!
Love ya!
You are a wonder. If it wasnt for you this never would have happened. Im so proud to know you and to have played a small part.
You made the news in the DC region this evening. Thanks for giving us the opportunity.
Thank you Erin! It is an awesome community of tenderhearted quilters we are all part of!!! Blessings and huge hugs, Doreen
What a wonderful article. It's so nice to read responses from some of the recipients. Great work Erin!
WOW! The front page! It is an amazing story! I never would have expected your call for a few blocks to get so big either.
This is so wonderful, Erin. I know you don't do these works for the glory, but you deserve "front page" mention for pulling so many giving quilters together to provide these blocks and finished quilts. I'm proud to be among such wonderful quilters and so is my quilt guild, Rainbow Plantation Quilters.
The article made me cry! Thank you for being the point woman on this effort to share the love. Your giving spirit is an example to all of us!!! I'm so glad I could play a little part in sending warm hugs of love to those so desperately in need of them. Kudos to you!!! Your efforts definitely deserved the front page!!! Susan in WA
Awesome...AWESOME!! this is such a huge and wonderful project!! Front Page...is the icing on the cake.

What a cool article, Erin! Who says that one person can't get big thing accomplished. If you hadn't started it, then, all those blocks wouldn't have been mailed, sewn together, quilted, etc. YOU made a difference! We just supported YOU.
