In addition to exploring (by bicycle? Is it one of those places where we can all rent bikes and get along just fine for the week? I hope so!), I will be relaxing with some new quilt fiction that I ordered just in time for this trip,
and with some hand quilting. I was hoping to have my String Star Bee quilt completely assembled and ready to quilt for this trip, but so far, I only have 2 rows together. Last night I sandwiched my Orange Creamsicle quilt
Remember this one, made from vintage linens? |
Last night, I also finished the quilting on my little pink and green doll/baby quilt. I'll definitely do the big stitch with embroidery floss quilting again - it was fun and quick. The binding is sewn onto the front, and now I just need to hand stitch it down on the back and it'll be completely done. I'll post a full picture when that is done, but here is what I did with the big white spaces on all four sides of the quilt
No flash so that there wouldn't be a glare and you could actually see the quilting. |
and for the little white triangles in the borders, lots and lots of french knots.
OK, taking decent photos of quilts is HARD! |
I wish this were bigger to I could use it myself! |

Bermuda is lovely! It is definitely small enough to maneuver with bikes or mopeds, but the traffic is HEAVY AND FAST. If there are side roads to go on with the boys, choose them. The main drag with locals, buses, vans clogging up the road I would be cautious with the boys on individual bikes. That's just me, but I think you will see what I mean. Have a safe and enjoyable trip!
Enjoy your vacation. You certainly deserve it! Can't offer any advice I've never been to Bermuda but always wanted to go.
Wow, that big stitch quilting really adds a lot of charm to the quilt!! Nice job...enjoy your vacation.... ;-)
I've never been to Bermuda either. You certainly have been busy with quilting. I need to get back into quilt fiction books. I've been hooked on Mystery fiction for too long now. I need inspiration.
have a wonderful time on your vacation! A little reading, a little quilting, bike riding and time with your family...sounds perfect!
Have a great vacation with your family. I am really impressed with all you have gotten done. I will have to study your book thing a little more closely for my next trip. I picked up a good pile this summer and will try to make them last by reading slowly.
Crinkly is awesome. Mr. P is already griping about me taking away a hand sewing project . He doesnt understand why I need one...he thinks a holiday means Im not sewing. Derrrrr!
Enjoy Bermuda. Sounds amazing. Thats another place I should probably put on my list of "must visit" someday.
Hope you have a fun filled trip!
I hope y'all are having a blast!! You inspired me to get back to blogging:-) Can't wait to catch up when you get home!!
