The boys practiced their square knots and finished up the Cub Scout quilt. I can't wait to have them display it at their Blue and Gold ceremony on Saturday. Even though the birthing process was a hassle at the time, now, the quilt is DONE and done feels great!
I've had some squishy mail lately. First, some unexpected Katie Jump Rope scraps from Angela - thanks, Angela!
And then the fabric for my February Bee Block. Pink and brown - pretty!
The instructions were to make a 9.5" Shoofly block and add scrappy sashing to two sides. My first instinct was to make one of those scrappy sashing blocks a mini shoofly block, but I goofed and the points got cut off - that's OK for a quilt that I'm keeping, but not for a block that I'm sending off to someone else.

Your quilt turned out great and something the boys can be very proud of.
Your block for the Bee is wonderful. How creative to add the little block in the corner!!
The cub scout quilt is SO wonderful. What will you do with it after the banquet? (I may have missed that info) I like the way you fixed your flub. We are so cold here, I feel like my brain is even frozen. It is nice to be able to see other people sewing!!
The quilt is fabulous!! What a great idea this was! Good job!
Those Cubs look so pleased. I'm sure the whole pack will enjoy it on display. You should send a photo and the story to Scouters magazine or Boys Life. This was a good project and I'll bet those boys remember about that knot too.
Another success, Erin! Even the most difficult births are so worth it in the end. LOL Maybe you can auction the quilt as a den fundraiser--you could send a few of those boys to camp this summer? Just a thought. If my boy had contributed to that quilt, you know I'd bid high on it.
So glad birthing the quilt turned out to be a success.
Lovely blocks too...I take it you quilted first the day you made these? :)
That quilt is so cute. I like quilts that carry specific memories.
Great job on the quilt!
looking good- cw
Done is GOOD! That was such a good idea for the Scouts quilt. Your pink and brown blocks are neat - and the corner blocks are very creative - what happens now with them?
How are you coming on cutting the 8 1/2" blocks for Bonnie's workshop? I'll bring what I have left from the fabrics I've cut.
Your post on birthing the CS quilt made me smile, how is it I wonder I can take something simple and make it so difficult LOL - it is a wonderful memory quilt, hopefully you can put it away for them. The shoofly blocks are great! Bernie
