Christmas Gift Idea

Did you read Shirley's post today? She bought a Quilt Block Frame from Angela and Jim at Country Scrap Quilts and put a really cute embroidered block in it. Which reminded me...I bought one to display a block that I won in a block lotto in my guild a couple of years ago.

Isn't this block neat? The maker (not me) is really talented. I love the butterfly!

But it also reminded me that I bought another of those frames last year thinking that I could put a quilt block of my own design into it and give it for a Christmas gift. I never got around to that last year, but what's stopping me from doing it this year? I have time to make a block. I'd like to try embroidery. I should be able to embroider one block in time for Christmas, right? Thanks for sharing, Shirley - now I'm all jazzed up about trying something new and possibly actually finishing a Christmas gift before Christmas! And if you are looking for a gift idea, check out Angela and Jim's shop. I've got my eye on one of those clocks...

Hey, you sure are fast - I just saw this over at Bits & Pieces and think it's a great way to display seasonal blocks and change them out throughout the year.

Thanks for sharing! Happy Weekend & Love from Texas! ~bonnie

Thanks for posting about your frame! You really should do an embroidery for the other one! With how good you are a quilting, I am sure your embroidery would be lovely, too! Thanks again!

Great block! How lucky for you to win it. Yes, you can embroider. I first learned when I was 11 in school. I actually still have the laundry bag that I made. I must post that one of these days. Try Primrose Design Blog here http://primrosedesign.blogspot.com/ She has all kinds of photo instructions on how to do the different stitches. Straight stitch is probably where you'd like to start.

What a great block. I am not much at embroidering but do love it. What a cute little frame.
