I have The Help on order from Amazon; hope to read it before going to the movie. I've recently read some unfavorable comments about the book; maybe I just wasn't paying attention before, but I thought it was widely praised when it first came out.Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17840530854927719581noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4147280143371495318.post-41590913330594881642011-08-25T09:19:08.937-07:002011-08-25T09:19:08.937-07:00Your blog is always so interesting I love reading ...Your blog is always so interesting I love reading it even when there is no quilting involved. I echo others when I say that the book is always better than the movie, the movie can't give all the detail you get from a book. The Help was a great read, loved it, but haven't had a chance to see the movie yet. I am sure you will do just great for your black belt test. I grabbed my mother who was with me and said, we've got to get out of here, this is an earthquake. She looked at me and said to sit down and relax. On the way home she gave me the relax and don't over react pep talk. When we got home and learned there had been a quake I was relieved that my instincts were right and not an over reaction. Anyhow, LOVED the movie and LOVED the book. The details in how they differed I was thankful for.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4147280143371495318.post-4208897915226241742011-08-24T18:18:01.666-07:002011-08-24T18:18:01.666-07:00Finished the book (there is a small list at Leybur...Finished the book (there is a small list at Leyburn) and saw the movie last Saturday. The city I live in is built on a fault line but we haven't had a large quake since 1954.

I hate it when they mangle books to make films. Dang...all the other relatives out there noticed.
My cousin loved the book Help. Have you read Holes?? that is another great book for kids...and the movie isn't to bad. Book are always better. I went with my sisters to watch the movie last week. The book is much better (isn't that always the case?), but the movie IS pretty awesome, and definitely worth seeing. I wasn't really disappointed, but there is sure a lot you miss when watching it on film instead of reading the book. I'm reading the book again now, because after a year, I was foggy on some of the details.

What a scary shake for you yesterday! My oldest son lives in Philly, and ALSO said how "awesome" it was (he's 23, not in the 3rd grade anymore, but earthquakes are fun to boys apparently!).

Good luck on your black belt!!
LoriLipstick Mommahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16454761216699161548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4147280143371495318.post-80884685185356020592011-08-24T09:06:49.332-07:002011-08-24T09:06:49.332-07:00glad to hear that your quake was survible.
One thi...glad to hear that your quake was survible.
One thing that helps me in the book/movie thought process is to remember they are two different experiences. Try not to compare. did you enjoy the read- great. if you had not read the piece would the movie have been OK?

lucky for me that with my memory I can read a book and two days later pick it up to read again! I never expect the movie to be even similar to the characters I have in my imagination(I usually don't even get the names the same- lol)

I think we are conditioned to think that every thing has to be compared, just let it be what it is.Cheryl Willishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11381571396901353377noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4147280143371495318.post-60378272260677049532011-08-24T06:41:46.658-07:002011-08-24T06:41:46.658-07:00Love the seismograph pic!
